Before you go -

Free Passports to First Time Student Travelers
In June, 2006, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a resolution to support the goals and ideals of National Passport Month in September. To celebrate National Passport Month, 50 first time travelers in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences that apply to study abroad during2007-2008 academic year will receive a free passport! Photo Contest:

There and Back - Reflections of ISU World Adventures

There and Back is an Agriculture Study Abroad Photography Contest to highlight the stories, memories, and experiences of students who have traveled abroad. Any College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) student who has studies abroad or non-CALS student who has participated in a Agriculture Study Abroad program is eligible to submit their work. Awards will be given in the following categories:

  • Cultural Content
  • Artistic and Technical Quality
  • ISU Around the World

This contest will be held twice a year. Announcements will be sent to students and/or posted on the Ag Study Abroad website. Please contact Difei Shen at dfshen@iastate.edu if you have any questions.

 

Workshops:

Market Your Study Abroad Experience Career Workshop
Market Your Study Abroad Experience Workshop is designed and conducted by the Ag Study Abroad office every fall before the college career fair. The goal of this workshop is to help returning study abroad students make the most of their international experiences by applying them to the job market.

Specific objectives include: 1) help students identify the useful skills gained from the study abroad experience; 2) help students learn how to showcase those skills during an interview or on a resume; 3) help students share international experiences with others.

Volunteer Opportunities:

If you are interested in sharing your international experiences with others, as well as continuing your learning experiences after you are back, here are a few opportunities:

  • Speak to 110 classes/clubs/organizations
  • Become a conversational partner of international incoming exchange students
  • Host international visiting scholars and/or students
