Focus

Ecological Zones and Natural Resource Management

 

Description

Students will explore the different components of the different ecosystems of Ghana from the coastal savannah in the south to the guinea savanna in the north across the semi-deciduous forest. They will study the services they provide, how the local population exploits these services and how the exploitation processes affect the natural resource base. Students will study the role of indigenous technologies used to promote sustainable agricultural production  in each ecosystem.They will observe efforts to promote ecotourism through appropriate natural resources management. 





 

Program Cost Description:

Program Fee - $4,674.86, which includes: lodging, airfare, on-site transportation, and entrance fees.
Other Fees - 1) $10 program application fee to the Ag Study Abroad office; 2) $105 study abroad administrative fee charged by Study Abroad Center
Out of Pocket Personal Cost - 1) passport which costs $100 if you don't already have one; 2)ISIC (International Student ID Card) which costs $25.50; 3) health insurance if you are not covered on your existing policy; and 4) immunizations (varies based on where you go). Of course, there are also other personal costs, such as some meals and souvenirs, etc.

Program fee, and the $105 administrative fee will be applied directly to your Ubill in Spring 2010.
