This integrated production and policy program will allow students to gain valuable knowledge, skills and abilities with respect to global agricultural production, resources and food issues. Further, the students would gain an understanding of the role of the United Nations (UN) agencies and associated non-governmental entities in these issues. Students would be expected by the end of the program to know not only the “what” of agricultural, resource and global food issues in terms of emergency food aid and long-term economic development, but also to learn to assess, analyze and evaluate complex, country and site-specific situations and to develop their own thinking about how to solve the complex issues associated with issues like foreign food aid, world hunger, food security, food safety and the global economy and the role of the US and the UN in these systems.
At the end of this program, students would be able to
• Work in high-functioning teams
