Spring 2009 Travel Course to Costa Rica

(Agronomy)

 

 

Focus
Soils & Crops of Costa Rica

 

Description

Students will travel through Costa Rica visiting numerous sites to observe tropical soils and tropical crop production.  We will have time to visit one of Costa Rica’s famous beaches and to do white water river rafting and a rain forest canopy tour.

 

At the end of the program, students will:
1) have an understanding of tropical crop production
2) understand how tropical soils affect crop production methods
3) have a better understanding of the culture of Costa Rica.

 

Selection Criteria:

Agronomy or Environmental Science Major


Term: Spring 2009   Travel Departure Date: 3/12/2009   Travel Return Date:3/19/2009

Program Cost Description:

Program Fee - about $2912, which includes round-trip airfare, round-trip airport transportation, on-site transportation, lodging, service providers, and entrance fees.
Other Fees - 1) $10 program application fee to the Ag Study Abroad office; 2) $95 study abroad administrative fee charged by Study Abroad Center
Out of Pocket Personal Cost - 1) passport which costs $100 if you don't already have one; 2) health insurance if you are not covered on your existing policy; and 3) immunizations (varies based on what you already have). Of course, there are also other personal costs, such as some meals and souvenirs, etc.

Program fee, tuition and fees, and the $95 administrative fee will be applied directly to your Ubill in spring 2009.
