The objective for this course id for students to develop knowledge and skills in international business development through experiential learning. Students will act as a consulting team for three to four early stage U.S agricultural technology businesses, assessing the market potential for their products in Brazil and creating a roadmap for developing their businesses there. They will interact heavily with the agricultural technology businesses, government and trade organizations, and Brazilian agricultural businesses and farms.
Program includes 4 weeks of Intensive Portuguese before the start of the academic semester in Brazil. The intensive program is offered by the Federal University of Lavras, Minas Gerais State (no academic credits)

This is a semester-long CALS exchange program available to students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and ABE students in the College of Engineering with a 3.0 GPA or above.
The Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) is a public Brazilian higher education institution with around 20,000 students and over 1,200 full professors. Founded in 1926, UFV is considered the main Brazilian university in agriculture.
Class will meet during Spring Semester for Pre-departure orientation. Travel will take place in May
Examine the structure of the bovine and equine industries in Brazil with attention to the distinctive differences in environmental management and resource usage, markets and management style in the raising of horses and beef cattle in Brazil.
Course Numbers: AnSci 495 1 credit for Spring 2016, AnSci 496 2 credits for Summer 2016.
