Travel the world and get these once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

What programs have you participated in?

Prior to coming to Iowa State University, I had not traveled outside of the United States; however, I now have attended the following programs: India: Crops, Culture, Food, and Traditions; Costa Rica: Soils, Crops, and Natural Resources of Costa Rica; and Italy and Greece: Food Culture, and Agriculture. This November, I will be traveling on the United Arab Emirates: Culture and Economic Diversification travel course.

How has studying abroad impacted your perspective of agriculture and your future career plans?

These experiences have greatly expanded my knowledge of global agriculture production and how it differs from agriculture production here in the U.S. I had the opportunity to interact with local farmers and learn of the hardships they work to overcome. I have gained a new appreciation for different cultures and tried delicious food from all over the world.

What was your favorite study abroad opportunity?

India was my favorite study abroad I have been on as it was my first time traveling outside the country, and I got to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Have scholarships impacted your decision to study abroad?

Scholarships have helped me significantly, making these trips more affordable and allowing me to travel and see new places!

What advice would you tell other students thinking about studying abroad?

My advice to students interested in studying abroad is to do it! Travel the world and get these once-in-a-lifetime experiences. If you are debating which program to travel on, choose a program that isn't a "destination" or "vacation" country, as this will be the safest and cheapest you can travel to this country or part of the world.
