If you ever get the opportunity to study abroad take it! Studying abroad opens your mind up to ways you did not even realize you could learn! The Costa Rica program made my education back at ISU much more creative when learning about traditional agronomic practices.
  • Why did you study abroad?
    • I had heard so many amazing things about studying abroad, and I have always had an interest in traveling!
  • Why did you choose to study in Costa Rica?
    • I wanted to travel with professors I knew in my department and heard amazing things about the trip!
  • Kylie McGlade in Costa RicaHave you traveled internationally previously?
    • Yes! My cousins used to live in Hong Kong, so I have been to visit them! I have also been to Canada and the Bahamas.
  • Major difference between a travel course vs. regular classes at ISU?
    • The learning and content is experience-based! These travel courses are not made to overload you during the semester and for you to fully dive in when you are actively traveling.
  • What was the most impactful part of your travel course experience?
    • Seeing agronomic practices in different ecosystems and various ways of thinking. This experience made my education back at ISU much more creative when learning about traditional agronomic practices.
  • Most memorable experience?
    • We got to visit an avocado farm in Costa Rica's highlands! We had hiked up so long, and at the top, the view was just breathtaking I had never felt that small! Also eating a fresh avocado off of a tree was just the best thing ever!
  • Did you get to travel around Costa Rica?
    • Yes! The course is basically designed to be a road trip around the country! You get to see everything and a variety of ecosystems.
