Exploring the Marine and Terrestrial Biodiversity of the US Virgin Islands
I would advise students interested in studying abroad to not think twice about it. Money comes back but you might never get the chance to experience the world again.

Why did you choose to participate in this study abroad program?

I chose to take part in this specific program because of the unique experiences it had to offer. Having never seen the ocean before the trip, I was excited to become familiar with marine life through snorkeling. What better place to do this than the Caribbean!

How did you benefit personally, professionally, or academically from your study abroad experience?

I was able to benefit from this trip through all the hands-on experience. Through presenters and a lot of ocean time, I was able to learn more about the diversity St. John has to offer compared to the states. We also had multiple service opportunities like mangrove planting, trash pickup, and cleaning up historical sites. It is humbling knowing that we had a direct impact in helping to restore their beautiful island.

What was your most memorable experience abroad?

My most memorable experience was the full moon Ram Head hike that our group did. From this peak, we watched the sun set at the same time as the full moon rose. It was a breathtaking experience considering the history of this peak. I also gained some great friendships on this trip.

What advice would you give to students interested in studying abroad?

I would advise students interested in studying abroad to not think twice about it. Money comes back but you might never get the chance to experience the world again.
