Jessica Boertje

Study Abroad Advisor

Jessica Boertje (she/her), Study Abroad Advisor and recruiter for CALS Study Abroad. Jessica advises students interested in many types of study abroad opportunities and also manages the office’s student workers (Student Travel Consultants). Jessica also promotes to and educates students about available international opportunities, mostly through classroom visits, attending study abroad fairs, running study abroad-related workshops, and other events. Jessica is also a co-advisor to ISU’s chapter of IAAS (the International Association of Students in Agriculture and Related Sciences).

Jessica earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies at Central College where she studied abroad for two semesters- in London, England and Leiden, the Netherlands. Jessica earned her master’s degree in Cross Cultural Communication and Media Studies from Newcastle University in Newcastle, England. Jessica then lived in Cork, Ireland, working in recruitment before moving back to Iowa and working at Iowa State University. In her free time, Jessica likes to explore the world and learn new perspectives through travel, reading, volunteer work, and meeting new people.
