3 credits for ECON 496 during Spring 2023 semester
The objective of this course is for students to develop knowledge and skills in international agricultural business development through experiential learning. The students will act as a consulting team for agricultural businesses, assessing and comparing the market potential for carbon sequestration and carbon markets in Brazil, Argentina, and the United States. They will interact heavily with farmers, agribusiness professionals, and subject matter experts in the U.S., Argentina, and Brazil to better understand how carbon is measured, how markets may develop for carbon, and the differences between U.S. and South American agricultural businesses and farms. The students will apply their knowledge to the final deliverable, a business development analysis for future carbon markets in agriculture.
