Exploring the marine and terrestrial biodiversity of the US Virgin Islands (Study USA)

Located in the Caribbean Sea, St. John, an island in the US Virgin Islands, is rich in biodiversity, including several native and endemic plant and animal species. Characterized by a sub-tropical climate, St. John’s marine and seashore ecosystems boast beautiful coral reefs that are home to more than 40 species of coral; seagrass beds where 3 of the 7 species of sea turtles (green, hawksbill, leatherback) can be seen; and mangrove forests home to diverse assemblages of sponges, crabs, fish, and lobsters. The terrestrial ecosystems and their native and endemic species on St.

Greece and Italy: Food, Culture and Agriculture

This course provides students with a guided exploration of food, culture, and agriculture in two Mediterranean countries (Italy and Greece). It exposes students to food systems from production to distribution, marketing, and policies and regulations associated with the European Union.

The visit to Rome will introduce students to the United Nations organizations based there, the world-renowned gastronomy of Italy, and 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Hiking Tour of Chile: Cultures, Forests, Volcanos, and Wildlife

This course will focus on the unique natural and cultural history of the Lakes and Volcanoes district of south-central Chile, including unique volcanic and coastal landscapes, endemic forests and wildlife, hot springs, and the indigenous Mapuche people and their customs. 

During the Spring Break visit, we will hike and observe how recent volcanic eruptions have shaped landscapes and forests. We will also visit Truful-Truful Canyon and its beautiful waterfalls. Other stops include hikes to several mountain lakes and national parks formed by volcanic and glacial activity.

Tropical Agricultural Production, International Business, and Trade in Panama

Students will gain an introduction and first-hand exposure to tropical agricultural production, economics, international business, culture, and rural life.  Students will have an opportunity to learn about Panama's strategic location and also experience the Panamanian culture while also learning about how history and culture play a key role in shaping the relationship between Panama, the United States, and other countries in the world.

Diverse Gardens and Landscapes of Philadelphia and New York City (Study USA)

Beautiful gardens, inspiring landmarks, metropolitan cities, and historic sites are just a few things you will see on this Study USA course to New York City and Philadelphia!  Students will start by traveling to New York City, where they will get a chance to visit one of the most unique and inspiring urban gardens in the world – the Highline.  They will visit other iconic “Big Apple” landscapes like Central Park and the
